CompoundSemi Online is a unique and exclusively online portal...

We were the first to be online, back in 1996, and continue to be the compound semi industry's primary online resource. While we are heavily news and resource oriented, and attempt to champion all compound semi industry companies, labs, and supporting print magazines, journals and live events, we are in no way directly or indirectly associated with any print publication (that's good, by the way).

A single idea, a single industry...

After 20 years of bleeding edge technology development, everyone's wildest dreams are coming true. Compound semiconductors have finally made it beyond the status of "boutique technologies" becoming an extremely hot topic around financial and business circles. Compound Semiconductors Online is here to promote, celebrate and showcase both the newest of the new, and the veterans of an industry that has taken over twenty years to become an "Overnight Success."

The Technology...

The roots of compound semiconductor development are firmly entrenched in broadband communication, defense science, and space exploration. They've served in the most demanding application requirements on earth (and a few million miles beyond) and they've learned a few lessons along the way. Basically, Compound Semiconductor devices do what silicon hasn't a clue how to do! That's why the compounds, traditionally pave the way for silicon. In many applications necessitating photonic or extremely high frequency devices and those that require operation in excessively rugged environments, silicon isn't even a player. Sand is still cheap, so If you can execute your design in silicon, by all means do! But if you can't, then turn to the resources of this Compound Semiconductor industry for exciting solutions you may have never dreamed possible.

The Site...

Compound Semiconductors Online is inclusive by design, welcoming all involved in the compound semiconductor industry, including: public and private companies; individuals working in the industry now, or investigating it for employment; government, corporate and university development laboratories; print and online trade journals; organizers of traditional in-person conferences and trade shows, and financial and market analysis firms.

Launched in June 2000 and building on a highly successful five year track record of directing and educating Internet traffic to and from the compound semiconductor industry, the power of Compound Semiconductors Online lies in its commitment to serve the continuing needs of the users, developers, suppliers, and technical community who have been coming to this family of information and news sites for several years. Added to that is the willingness to "keep it personal" while fulfilling one important role as advisors and champions of this exciting industry.

Compound Semiconductors Online is truly everyone's compound semiconductor industry resource. Compound Semiconductors Online is totally inclusive, it's proven effective and it works for you 24 x 7 x 365. Imagine a multi-talented assistant/administrator/researcher that never takes off during those nights and weekends (you know, that personal time that you'd like to have more of yourself). If you're a provider of goods or services within, or to, the growing compound semiconductor industry, we invite you to check into the opportunity for Compound Semiconductors Online to become a prime avenue for supplying your company's more dynamic content and information that your customers are looking for.

And for all our users, you'll want to see what's here.....

The Founders...

Jo Ann McDonald, Founding Editor (retired), was been championing the compounds for over twenty years as a corporate communications consultant, editor and print journalist. Jo Ann is strongly aligned with those promoting dual use development of compound semiconductors and has promoted consistently and concertedly the commercialization of the compounds. The industry is grateful for her years of service and we all wish her the best in her retirement.

Tom Griffiths, CEO & Publisher, is a veteran high technology marketing and sales professional with over 20 years experience in the technology market along with extensive involvement in Internet business development activities in both the technology and consumer product segments. Tom is spearheads a variety of live conference programs, and has successfully launched additional spin-out publications from CS Online, including LIGHTimes, the LED supply chain news, and Solid State Lighting Design, which is dedicated to supporting the wide-scale adoption of LED lighting into the world's facilities and homes.
