Lighting Research Center launches Live! from the LRC

February 6, 2004... Troy, New York - The Lighting Research Center (LRC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute announces a new online educational seminar series designed to meet the needs of architects, engineers, facility managers, building owners, developers, energy service professionals, and other professionals needing a better understanding of light and lighting.

Live! from the LRC will bring lighting experts via the Internet to participants’ desktops to provide the latest information on important lighting topics. All that is needed to participate in these seminars is an Internet-connected computer and a telephone.

All participants will receive two university continuing education units (CEUs) for each seminar attended. These CEUs are accepted by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the National Council on Qualification for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP), and other professional organizations.

Seminar Schedule

· March 24, 2004 – 1:00-2:30pm EST The Truth about Outdoor Lighting

· April 14, 2004 – 1:00-2:30pm EST Energy-Efficient and Load-Responsive Lighting

· May 12, 2004 – 1:00-2:30pm EST LEDs - The Solid-State Lighting Revolution

· June 16, 2004 – 1:00-2:30pm EST Light and Health

The cost for individual participants is $100 per seminar. Participants can save $50 when they register for all four seminars. The cost for groups (up to ten participants using one connection at a single site) is $150 per site per seminar. Save $100 when registering a group for all four seminars.

Participants may sign up for the session(s) by filling out the REGISTRATION FORM available online at www.lrc.rpi.edu/education/outreachEducation/livefromthelrc.asp and faxing or mailing it to the LRC. When the participation fee is processed, participants will receive, via email, a telephone connection number and password and an Internet address where they can view and download the seminar presentations.

Participants will then call in at the specified day and time to listen, learn, and participate in the seminar. They will access the web site specified and follow along on their computer while listening on the conference call as the presenters discuss the slides. After the presentations, participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and get answers from leading lighting experts at the LRC.
