Intematix Rollout of Innovative White Phosphor Solutions Adds Fuel to Rapidly Growing Solid State Lighting Industry

March 24, 2005... Intematix Corporation of Moraga, California, USA, today announced production availability of the first members of its fully patent-backed Phosphor family. The White Lightning Y450TM and the White Lightning Y460TM deliver YAG-equivalent performance and color benefiting many applications requiring bright, vibrant light. These include LCD and keypad backlighting, camera flash, automotive lighting, large area signage and architectural lighting.

The production availability of Intematix Phosphors begins a market transformation that will result in substantially more cost-effective High Brightness White LEDs for solid state lighting and other advanced applications. These Phosphors have been consistently proven in the marketplace as witnessed by the recently announced design win with Advanced Optoelectronic Technology Inc.

This announcement punctuates a 14-month effort at Intematix resulting in an entire family of patent-backed Phosphors developed in record time and with industry leading performance. This remarkable feat was accomplished with the help of their proprietary ultra-rapid Bulk, Thin Film and Nano Discovery Engines. The result is volume production availability of a true merchant supply of advanced Phosphor solutions.

Initial development was carried out for the Y450TM, which performs very well with wavelengths of 450nm and below. Responding to customers, Intematix then pursued development of the Y460TM, which operates ideally with the 460nm chips. Demonstrating an ability to rapidly tune its base technology, Intematix leveraged its Discovery Engines to create this Y460TM phosphor within two months, meeting the wavelength specification with phosphor optimized for each customer’s manufacturing process and materials.
